Gala Background

Our sixth annual art gala, Framing the Future, an evening of art and music in support of the Two Rivers community, will take place on Saturday, 24 April 2010 at the oh-so-stylish, hip, and very artsy Two Rivers buildings · 1234 and 1227 4th Street NE, Washington, DC.

The evening will include a silent art auction and live music. Guests will also enjoy marvelous cuisine, cocktails, and desserts. The gala is “black tie for the brave” and offers valet parking. Gala proceeds help Two Rivers fund specialized arts programming, purchase arts supplies, support artists in residence, and provide continuing education for teachers.

Framing the Future has been a resounding success in its first four years. In 2009, we celebrated with nearly 300 guests and raised over $80,000. We expect even greater success this year, and need your generosity to make that happen.

A Little Background on Two Rivers

Two Rivers opened its doors in the fall of 2004 to students across Washington, DC, and currently enrolls roughly 400 students in classes from preschool through 8th grade. The school’s instructional model is Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound, an interactive, hands-on, project-based approach to learning. Two Rivers focuses on several aspects of learning, recognizing the importance character education plays in helping students achieve academic excellence. Our curriculum is rigorous, standards-based, and provides opportunities for students to excel in all areas. An integrated arts program and a content-based Spanish program augment the school’s demanding academics.
